Job Description
PKG Center Programs Coordinator
Position Overview:
The Programs Coordinator will coordinate and deliver public service programming for the PKG Center including:
• Outreach to/recruitment of MIT student participants; planning, attending, and hosting events to raise the profile of programs on-campus with undergraduate and graduate students;
• Working with Center staff on the student application and selection processes; coordinating the interview and match process for students;
• Identifying, creating, coordinating, and providing trainings for student participants and organizations;
• Handling logistics of internship placements (travel arrangements, housing, paperwork, risk management, insurance);
• Tracking student participation and update associated databases as needed;
• Assisting with collaborations with MIT partners to identify, scope, and finalize discrete opportunities for MIT student engagement such as MISTI or GECD internships, class-based assignments, etc.; and
• Developing material and information to populate program web pages and social media feeds and inform fundraising efforts and donor stewardship.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
30% Taking primary responsibility for recruiting MIT student participants for PKG Center programs; presenting programs in classes and residence halls, to student organizations, and at recruitment events; liaising with departmental contacts across campus in promoting relevant service opportunities;

30% Identifying needs for training students and student organizations in a wide range of community engagement and social justice topics; organizing and delivering trainings on campus; creating new training materials and adapting existing materials as needed; creating and undertaking evaluations. Liaising with external-to-MIT trainers to arrange payment, space, schedule, outreach, and other logistics

30% Collaborating with program administrators on reviewing student applications, interviewing and matching students; further developing the PKG Center review processes; updating and maintaining student and application review databases; collecting and cataloging student reports upon program conclusion; developing and implementing qualitative evaluation tools, tracking student requirements (reports, training attendance)

10% Maintaining web content and other communication materials, event and travel logistics and preparation.

The main quantitative measure is the number of students applying to and participating in PKG programs. Position will also be responsible for development and tracking of qualitative measures (student and partner satisfaction, learning outcomes) and assessment tools.

Supervision Received:
This position reports to the PKG Center Director of Programs.

Supervision Exercised:
Position may supervise student workers.

Qualifications & Requirements
Qualifications & Skills:
REQUIRED:
• B.A; at least two years’ professional experience in relevant field such as higher education, non-profits, international education.
• Establish and maintain strong relationships with MIT undergraduate and graduate students, colleagues within the Center, from across the Institute. Ability to inform and inspire diverse audiences about public service opportunities at MIT.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills. Outstanding organizational and project management skills with a strong teamwork orientation.
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with changing priorities. Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to exercise professional judgment and discretion. Ability to work under minimal supervision and to exercise individual initiative to meet and anticipate emerging issues and requirements.
• Excellent computer skills including experience with spreadsheets and databases and comfortable learning new software as needed. Knowledge of and experience with Microsoft Office and social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, Twitter, etc.).
• Must have experience interacting with, training, and/or advising students and planning and running events; scheduling complex intern travel arrangements, arranging meetings, and managing multiple tasks.
• Ability to meet a flexible work schedule, including frequent evenings and/or weekends. Possible occasional travel for participation in conferences, meetings, or other related activities.
